Bikes/ BBQ/ Beers Day - Long Beach

Went on a bike ride, had just one beer, and ate some good food.

Glow Santa Monica

I expected Glow to be something amazing. A city lit up from dusk til' dawn, with music in the air, and art all around made to instill wonder in the 20,000 curious visitors. Well, there were definitely a lot of people, and I think we were all wondering the same thing... wheres the art? We asked around and nobody was able to tell us. It was promoted as an all night event, but maybe we did get there too late. I saw two pieces which were very underwhelming. One was like a moon type thing projected on the beach with shadow puppets on it. It was clever, but the full moon in the night sky was much more awe inspiring.

Bullshit, right? Not really. Good things happen when thousands of good natured people gather in such a beautiful city. We need more opportunities like this. We need a reason to walk the streets in the early morning, to smoke that feel good on the beach, for hundreds of bikers to ride down Ocean Avenue, for double dutch sessions on the sidewalk, and spur of the moment dance parties on the pier.

When it happens, make a lot of noise.
