SAN FRAN LILY

On Saturday night I hung out with the american friend I met here a few weeks ago. We went to Shibuya, got silly, then went to a club named Camelot. Its 3 floors, the main one happened to be a house event that night. I had a better time there than at any house events in LA, including EDC.

Anyway, my friend's name is Lily. Shes From Nor Cal, but going to UCSB. We're leaving Tokyo at around the same time, but I'm glad that we could keep in touch in California.

Unfortunately, I wont be able to see these people after I leave, I'm really gonna miss them...

UTADA

I moved into my brand new house today. Its great, I love it. The town I'm in is nice too, being far from central Tokyo gives me a sense of the 'real Japan'.

When I first arrived I crossed paths a few times with one of my housemates, he was kind and helped me out with a couple things. After finishing with the lease agreement I walked to the convenient store and bought green tea, onigiri, and 2 beers; came back and told him to take one.

We sat down ate our late lunch and tried our best to make conversation. Hes Japanese, older than me, and training for K1 Kickboxing. Hes a bit weird but its innocent and kind of funny. Theres a girl that just moved in today as well, he tried getting me to get her to come to the common area. I thought he meant nampa(hitting on flirting etc..) but he corrected me and said something so cool..

" We talk .. everyone ... community .... rove and happiness .. "

One month and 10 days left in Tokyo...

edit: housemate turned out to be a crazy man

PASSED OUT JAPAN

The trains stop running at 1AM and taxis are ridiculously overpriced, so this isn't a surprising sight. I could take hundreds more, but I think I'll stop here.

WINE BAR

I've had a bad case of insomnia these past few nights, so I went to Ebisu to visit friend Will at the wine bar he works at. Ebisu is pretty cool, its just one stop from Shibuya, but the difference is its filled with an older crowd. When Will was done with work at 3AM we walked around to find another bar to drink at. We stumbled upon a cool Spanish place named "Guapos".

We met a lot of nice people. It was a good night.

Gulu is dope. He was impressed with my japanese accent, which i am now so proud of. i told him i got it from watching a lot of j-dramas haha

quieres un cerveza?

Tomorrow, my housemate friend Raquel is going back home to Spain for a month. We were planning to go to a club this weekend for her "last hurrah" but our schedules didn't permit. Instead, for her last night we hung out once more at home. She cooked us dinner and we had a few drinks.

Willis found a new apartment, I'm moving out in a week, and Pedro will be here all his lonesome missing us dearly. Today on the way to the convenient store Will said, "..new life, new adventure"

fuck yaaaaa

SPACE SHOWER TV

At home when eating in the common area we turn on the TV and leave it on Space Shower TV. Its Japans music channel, during the day they usually play their top 20. A lot of bad pop music has been stuck in my head lately, but these two are actually cool...

New Guest House

I'm moving in a few weeks! Its a brand new building, there's only 1 other person living there right now, a fridge in my room, and theres a balcony! I'm excited because my current house is old and dirty and one of my housemates is old and dirty. Hes crazy and the main reason I decided to find a new place.

The only bad part is I won't be in central Tokyo anymore, its a 30 minute train ride to Shinjuku.

BUTA FLU

not just for swine flu. they wear masks whenever they are sick

At school they gave us a form to fill out for swine flu. At the end it says, "If you're sick, dont come to school". Is swine flu still all the hype in California?

classmate "Kitty-chan"! i dont know how to spell her real name

Afterward I went to Shibuya to say hi to a couple acquaintances and to meet up with Pedro and his friends from Spain that just arrived.

And then afterward afterward I met some American folk, had laughs with some guys from Zaire and Nigeria, made a new Japanese friend, and on the way home talked to another Japanese guy on the train about some funny funny things

USA

Oh my goodness.

The guy that cut my hair is a big fan of LA. Hes going in February and he kept talking to me about it.

" Ahh Ros Angeres, Sahnta Moneeka, Merlose... "

a/s/l?

har har

I finally downloaded Skype to chat with my ma and pa. If you have Skype, let me know!

Today I went to an Italian restaurant and accidentally ordered twice as much as I wanted due to the language barrier. Fooood Coma

Thai festival soon!

COMPTON

No posts because I've been busy with my first full week of school. I wake up every morning at 7AM, take the train to Shinjuku with Will, then we walk the rest of the way. Afterward we have lunch then take care of whatever errands we have for the day. It's a lot of walking.

Today, I had delicious curry for lunch, a beer at a cool restaurant/live music venue in Harajuku, got an expensive Japanese haircut, then had a shot of tequila at a Mexican bar. Its Friday!

Tomorrow we're going to visit a classmate thats working at a Thai Festival in Yoyogi-koen.

Also, I'm moving to a new house because this one is terrible and it has crazy people inside.

2 months left in Tokyo...

Lip my stockings

I'm interested!

Sunday at Yoyogi-koen (pt2)

... I walked across the street to the National Stadium and stumbled upon the event Will and his girlfriend were at yesterday. We misunderstood, it wasn't the Perfume concert, they were at a Reggae Festival. The sun was blazing hot, the event was fucking great, and it was free!

lots of bands played. i watched the Bob Marley tribute set

buzzed/melting/and turning japanese

I wasn't surprised at how many people were there, Jamaican culture is really popular in Tokyo. I wanted to try the Jamaican food, but the line was way too long.

Anyways, that was my Sunday. cheers

Sunday at Yoyogi-koen (pt 1)

Sundays in Japan are my favorite. Everyone seems enthusiastic about having a good time during the day, theres always a lot going on. Hah, I'm honestly too tired to write. It was hot and I had a lot of fun. The various activities people enjoy in Yoyogi-koen is honto ni sugoi (really awesome)

the yoyogi rockabillies

coolest family of all time. the dad plays breakbeats on that square drum, the kid hip hop dances, and the mom cheers him on

good music

guy seriously dancing alone in the middle of the park

bamboo blade!

Also - picnics, different sports, kids playing games, jump rope, drum circles, people riding their fixies, jugglers, and yes a group of guys trying to walk on a tight rope tied between two trees while drinking booze and smoking...
